Sustainable and accessible

With the Schauinslandbahn, both are possible. After all, Germany’s longest circulating cable car has been running on 100% green electricity since 2009 and produces 60 times less CO2 emissions on a single trip than a car on the same route. So you arrive at the top quite comfortably and environmentally conscious. In addition, the use of the Schauinslandbahn is also excellent for passengers with limited mobility: Spacious cabins offer sufficient space for wheelchairs, the boarding and alighting times can be individually regulated and accompanied by the supervisory staff. At the bottom station you will of course find specially designated parking spaces and there are barrier-free WCs in both the bottom and top stations. Welcome to the mountain!
Freiburg's highest address

Even if the Münsterplatz and our mountain station are separated by many meters of air and altitude, Schauinsland and Schauinslandbahn are a part of Freiburg. Our aim is to make the Schauinsland experience accessible to as many people as possible. Together with the VAG, we make it possible for you to travel to Freiburg's highest address in a relaxed and climate-friendly way. Thus, you can let yourself drift up here and discover and enjoy the Schauinsland with its many possibilities in a self-determined way. We are happy about all guests, no matter if they come from the wide world or from Freiburg and the region.
