Lift me up. And down.

Lift me up. And down.

Choose here from the manifold attractions on Freiburg’s landmark mountain and organise your personal event and relaxation day just as you wish. Enjoy the Schauinsland for each season. The Schauinsland cable car lifts you up and down all year long and carefully during the specified operating hours. This of course, barrier-free and with access to wheelchairs and baby-strollers. You will see: one of the 37 cabins stands ready for you and expect you to come in when you need it.

Covid-19 – Current terms of use

After consultation with the Ministry of Transport of Baden-Württemberg, the Schauinslandbahn is part of the local public transport system (ÖPNV) and therefore not affected by the restrictions of the Corona Ordinance.

Everyone needs to work together to help overcome the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic. We have introduced comprehensive hygiene measures to protect our passengers and staff against infection with Covid-19. Rooms, cabins and waiting areas are regularly disinfected. A guidance system on-site will help you comply with our terms of use.

The rules in brief:

  • Ban on transport of persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus and persons with SARS-CoV-2-specific symptoms (fever, dry cough, disturbance of the sense of taste or smell)
  • Access to the outdoor and indoor areas and cable car ride only possible with 3G proof (vaccinated, recovered, tested).
    • Official proof of testing (validity rapid test: 24 h / validity PCR test: 48 h).
    • The student card is valid up to 17 years of age.
    • Children under 6 years of age are exempt from the 3G obligation.
  • Mandatory use of masks (medical mouth and nose protection, FFP2, KN95, N95 or comparable) in the cabins and waiting area – including children at or over the age of 6.
  • Maintaining a minimum distance of 1.5 m
  • Hand desinfection when entering the building
  • Permanent ventilation in the cabins
  • Think of others and observe the right etiquette if you sneeze or cough.
  • Follow the route guidance system.
  • Observe the instructions and hygiene rules on-site.

Maintenance periods

Safety comes first. That’s why maintenance periods take place twice a year. During this period, the cable car is not working. There is no replacement bus service to ensure the transport.

The Bergstation Café & Restaurant at the upper station is also closed during this period.
